Clinical Specialist Orthotist
Rachael hails from a farming family in the nearby Forest of Bowland. During her time at college, she was able to visit a Prosthetic and Orthotic centre, and decided that was the career for her. The combination of a healthcare setting and helping people, alongside problem solving and mechanics was an ideal blend.
Rachael graduated from the University of Salford in 2010 with a BSc(Hons) degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics. She is registered with the HCPC as an Orthotist and is also a member of BAPO. She has worked at various NHS hospitals across the north of England gaining clinical experience across a range of fields including lower limb biomechanics, rheumatology, diabetes and neurology.
2 years ago she was able to return to her roots, when she secured a role at the Specialist Mobility rehabilitation Centre in Preston as a Senior Orthotist. This has been an ideal setting for her to become more specialist in treating patients with more complex needs, whilst increasing knowledge of ever improving orthotic technologies and materials.
Outside of work she can be found striking balls whilst playing for Garstang Ladies Hockey club or out running in the Bowland hills.
