Specialist Clinical Prosthetist
Despite being born with congenital absence of the right forearm, Jon was always a very determined individual, and this was certainly the case when he was the first individual (within the UK) with upper limb absence to graduate from the University of Salford with a first class honours degree in P&O.
His past working history has always been closely linked to working with the public, and this has certainly helped in acquiring the some of the skills to deal with amputees and the issues that can arise.
He has been based as a Senior Prosthetist at the Swansea ALAC for the past 13 years, initially working for Blatchford and Sons Ltd and now for the ABMU health board.
His clinics include dealing with a wide variety of patients at all amputation and functional levels. I’m a firm believer in listening to the patient to try and achieve the best possible outcome for them, and will always strive to achieve high levels of care. He has also worked intermittently at the War Veterans Rehabilitation Clinic at Headley Court, once again dealing with a wide variety of complex prosthetic interventions.
Living on the beautiful North Gower Coast, he loves nothing better than taking the Dog for long walks. Still “trying” to keep fit by attending the gym on a regular basis, when he is not “honing” his DIY skills renovating our house or enjoying a trip away with the family.
